Regulating Unsafe Buildings

SUMMARY: When in the opinion of the building inspector, any structure located in the Town shall be deemed to be unsafe or dangerous to the public, he shall make a formal inspection thereof and thereafter prepare a written report. If consent of the owner is not obtained, a search will be obtained. When the building is deemed unsafe, the Building Inspector will serve or cause to have served a notice on the owner. All costs and expenses incurred by the Town of Wellsville in connection with any proceeding or any work done to remove the danger shall be assessed against the landowner. Any person who neglects, refuses or fails to comply with any order or notice issued shall be guilty of an offense. FINE: Not to exceed $250 and/or imprisonment not to exceed 15 days.
